Atacama Minerals Ltd.

Iodine
The Aguas Blancas facility, located near Antofagasta, Chile, produces high quality (99.8% purity) prilled iodine. Packaging of iodine prills is conducted under constant supervision by video cameras in order to assure all established procedures are followed.

Prilling is done using a proprietary process, which insures a consistent high quality prill. The prilled iodine is dried and placed in a bin.

From the bin prills flow by gravity to a classifying screen conveyer. The screen separates the prills in three fractions: fines, oversize and specification grade prills.

Two samples are obtained during the packing operation following an established procedure. One of the samples is chemically analyzed to assure compliance to specifications. The second sample is identified by lot number and is stored for any future needs. These testament samples are kept for two years. All iodine produced by Atacama Minerals Chile complies with internationally recognized standards as ACS, USP and BP.

The prills are packed in 50 Kg UN approved fiber drums and placed on pallets. The pallets contain either 600 Kg. or 1200 Kg. depending on client requirements. The 600 Kg pallets contain 12 drums arranged in 4 rows and 3 columns. The 1200 Kg pallets contain 24 drums arranged in 4 rows, 3 columns and 2 levels.
